Delegation of the National Archives of Georgia headed by the general director, Teona Iashvili participated at the Annual International Conference “Accountability, transparency and Access to Information”, organized by ICA on November 22-24 in Brussels, Belgium.
In the frame of the visit the head of the National Archives of Georgia met her foreign colleagues. During the meeting with the Finish, Maltese and Polish colleagues the issues of the future cooperation and joint projects were discussed. Director of the State Archives of Poland, Wladyslaw Sepniak will visit the National Archives of Georgia in 2014.
Teona Iashvili met the representatives of the Center of Genealogical researches. The center assists archives to implement the electronic programs for genealogical researches. In the frame of the visit it was consented that the memorandum of understanding will be concluded between the National Archives and the Archives Portal Europe (APEx). It considers the upload of the archival documents of the National Archives of Georgia on the portal and the Georgian documents will be accessible for the international society.
Delegation of the National Archives visited the City Archives of Ghent and the Institute of the Social History of Belgium. National Archives cooperates with the institute since 2011. During this period the sides have exchanged not one copy of the archival documents.
Together with other issues the sides discussed the question of holding an exhibition in 2014 with the copies of the archive of Brother Mules that was transferred to the National Archives by the Belgian colleagues.
