The evening dedicated to the memory of Georgian philologist and historian - Guram Sharadze - was held today in the Exhibition Pavilion of the National Archives.
“Conversations about Guram Sharadze”- was the title of the event, where colleagues and students recalled the scientist. The Exhibition Pavilion presented the archival documents of the First Republic of Georgia, brought by Guram sharaze from Leuville and Harvard to Georgia.
“Guram Sharadze and Georgian Emigration” was the theme of the speech of Rusudan Kobakhidze - the representative of Tbilisi State University; Eter Kavtaradze, the staff member of the National Center of Manuscripts delivered the speech about the archives of Maghlakelidzes’, transferred to the National Center of Manuscripts by Guram Sharadze. Tamar Gabunia, the representative of the National Archives, informed the public about the archival materials brought from Harvard and Leuville by Guram Sharadze. Natela Chitauri, the representative of the Georgian Literature Institute, delivered the speech about Guram Sharadze as a teacher and colleague. Feride Kvachantiradze from the National Library remembered Guram Sharadze's relationship with the National Library of Georgia. He also noted that the National Library plans to set up a Cabinet named after Guram Sharadze.
Zviad Kvachantiradze - Chairman of the Parliamentary Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee attended the event. According to him, it is planned to set up the prize named after Guram Sharadze for the best scientific research of emigrant archival documents.
“Conversations about Guram Sharadze” ended with Giorgi Sharadze's film “Return of the Nation's Historical Memory”.
