The Documents Restoration Laboratory was opened in the Kutaisi Central Archive of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
From now on, restoration and conservation works will be carried out on site for the documents stored in the Kutaisi Central Archive.
The Documents Restoration Laboratory of the Kutaisi Central Archive is equipped with modern equipment, inventory, and restoration materials. The restorers raised their qualifications in the Documents Restoration Laboratory at the National Archives located in Tbilisi.
The Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia, Buba Lomuashvili, inspected the new laboratory.
The Kutaisi Central Archive preserves documents created from the 18th century to the present – the Kutaisi City Administration (1875-1919), the Kutaisi Gubernia Division (1846-1918), the Kutaisi State Assembly of Deputies (1837-1917), the Imereti Episcopal Chancellery (1819-1921) and other fonds. The unique documents include the deeds and grant charters of the kings of Imereti – Solomon the First and Solomon the Second; population census materials; autographs and other materials of Ilia Chavchavadze, Akaki Tsereteli, Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, Grigol Robakidze, Galaktion Tabidze, etc.
