Restoration of Lakhamuli Four in the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has been completed. According to the decision of the Lakhamuli community of Mestia Municipality, the restoration-conservation works in the National Archive Document Restoration Laboratory started in May last year. The works lasted for 18 months, after which the XII century manuscript was returned to the village of Lakhamuli.

The manuscript was brought to the village of Lakhamuli by Buba Lomuashvili, Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia, Teona Iashvili, Director General of the National Archives, and Tamila Apakidze, Head of the Restoration Laboratory of the National Archives.

Several restorers worked on the restoration and conservation of the Lakhamuli Four. Each sheet of the manuscript was disinfected, softened and cleaned in a dry and wet manner, filling in missing and damaged areas. At the same time, the manuscript was being scientifically studied and a digital copy was being made.

The Lakhamuli quartet performed on Etrat is of great importance for the study of the Georgian quartet by Giorgi Mtatsmindeli. This manuscript is accompanied by numerous inscriptions, which provide valuable information about the socio-economic, legal and religious existence of Lakhamuli gorge.
