A series of eventsfocused on the 1924 anti-Soviet national uprising have been launched by the National Archives

2024 marks 100 years since the anti-Soviet national uprising of 1924. In connection with this occasion, the National Archive of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia started a cycle of events that will be carred out in 2023-2024. The video "We fought, we fight and we will fight!", prepared within the project depicts the meeting with Stalin on July 6, 1921, in the Tbilisi Workers Palace. Historians claim that this occasion evolved into an anti-Soviet demonstration (Video link: https://fb.watch/lCefHrpYbA/).

To better introduce the history of the Georgian people's struggle for independence following the Soviet Union's occupation of Georgia in 1921–1924, the project plans publications, exhibitions, public lectures, having a a special section at the conference, and educational videos. Within the framework of the events, three books will be published: a collection of archival documents, "Anti-Soviet National Movement and Uprising in Georgia (1921-1924)"; a monograph, "The Historiography of the Anti-Soviet National Uprisings of 1924", and the scientific-popular edition, which will include stories depicting the political, public, and cultural life of Georgia in 1921-24.

Additionally, the exhibition "Anti-Soviet National Uprising of 1924" will be prepared. The exhibition will feature anti-Soviet proclamations of 1921-1924; archival documents outlining the preparation, progress, failure, and brutal repression of the uprising by the Soviet regime; Photographs of the leaders and participants of the rebellion, their personal belongings, etc.

In 2024, the 9th International Scientific Conference of the National Archives of Georgia will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the anti-Soviet national uprising. One of its sections will incorporate the scientific topics on the 1924 uprising.
